Eliezer Shalev, M.D., Dean of the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Incumbent, Minnie and Ruben Finkelstein Academic Chair. Prof Shalev serves also as Chairman of the Israeli Ministry of Health’s National Council for Obstetrics Gynecology, Genetics and Neonatology. Dr. Shalev chaired for 26 years the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Emek Medical Center and he is one of Israel’s leading experts in his profession. His basic research interests focus on molecular mechanisms of human embryonic implantation, mechanism of birth and regenerative reproduction. His clinical interest is in the areas of prenatal diagnosis and treatment, and in assisted reproduction techniques. He has held many distinguished positions during his career, including President of the Israeli Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, President of the Israel Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chairman of the Technological and Medical Infrastructure Advisory Committee and of the Advisory Committee for the Chief Scientist of the Israeli Health Ministry. He also served in the Israeli Science Foundation’s Advisory Committee of Medicine, the International Federation for Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Advisory Panel on Maternal and Perinatal Health as well as Israeli National Committee on Human Medical Research.

He published more than 250 research papers and 17 book chapters. He took part and gave numerous International plenary and invited talks.
